A project finished, Fang comes home.
I had the luxury of a free afternoon Saturday and all the parts and tools I needed to finish off my roof rack project. I cut down the teak slats (and suffered from projectile wood bits to the stomach), oiled them, and fit them with the appropriate hardware. In the evening we drove out to finally collect Fang - or so we thought, only to find that the distributer was bad and he wasn't ready to be brought home. We did get the call to come collect this morning, and had a fairly large check to write, as well as a 45 minute one-way drive. The heat seems to be stuck on on the passenger side, and I have no brake lights - but I'm more than happy to have it back after nearly 4 months of being off the road.

What I've been up to at work
Over the last few months I've had a chance to do a few logos that eventually ended up as business cards and letterhead. I'm more happy with some than others. The three clients were:
FMCI: Firestop Management Consulting Inspection
DNS: Desktop Networking Solutions
Pegasus Business Partners
All of the cards have backs, I'll go into detail at a later point with all of the designs.

The Eames'
One of the neatest places in Indy to look for antiques is Midland Furniture Mart. We went a few months ago, and I found a deal too good to pass up; an Eames conference table for... $45. It has a nasty particle board top with rubber bumper edges, so that will need to be replaced; but the aluminum feet and black support tubes were in great shape. I bought it, and it will become my desk, as soon as I can decide how I want to build a new top for it.

Extracurricular Project
I bought this roofrack just over a year ago from a friend for the stately sum of $25. Its an original German piece thats seen better days. It was made by a company called Herkules, and the version I have was meant for a car with a slide back canvas sunroof, more pictures and history here. I've sourced teak for the slats, and I've chosen to go much wider than original - it just feels so much more substantial that way. I should be getting the parts - I partially disassembled it - back from the powder coater this week. I'll assemble it with stainless steel nuts and bolts, and go to Circle City's Volktoberfest in October (hopefully).

I have storefront!
My first paid logo ever is on the front of a store. Not my favorite logo, but when the client saw the sketch they wanted it as is, fast, and as cheap as possible. So it goes. The store is located on the corner of 146th and SR37 on the way to Noblesville. They sell custom computers. They install, maintain, or service your network - DNS stands for Desktop Networking Solutions. "Computers Made Easy" was a tag line I pitched, and they liked.
